Phillip Haskell, a retired accountant and instrument technician at Lubrizol Corp. and Painesville Probation Department employee, has served as township trustees since 1986.
In addition, Haskell has served on the Lake County and Ohio Township Associations, Lake County District Health Advisory Board, Lake County Licensing Board, Painesville Municipal Court Safety Board, and Laketran Board. He is president of the Perry Foundation and vice president of the Perry Historical Society.
If reelected, he said he wants to expand the township’s manufacturing and business base, seek solutions against drainage issues in several areas in Perry and traffic issues along Route 20. In addition, the 59-year resident said he wants to ensure the township’s fiscal health as it absorbs reduced funding from the state and county.
“I do not support a tax levy for Perry Township’s operating fund and intend to further trim the township budget and find more efficient ways to (operate) the township and manage our costs to provide the services required for the township’s well-being and livability,” Haskell said. “Both the JEDD Board and additional growth to Perry’s tax base will be critical in that effort regardless of the office holders involved.”
