Kelly McCarthy
McCarthy, 42, was appointed to the Board of Education in 2011 and has
served on multiple district committees. Before her appointment, she
served in elected positions in several service organizations including
the North Ridgeville Early Childhood PTA and as the second
vice-president of the North Ridgeville Lions Club. She has a bachelor's
degree in sociology and a master's of science in education from the
University of Akron. McCarthy is a stay-at-home mom and has lived in
North Ridgeville for 30 years.
If elected, McCarthy said she would like to focus on the district's infrastructure.
“Many of our schools have outlived their usefulness,” she said. “They are outdated, overcrowded and a burden on our finances.”
McCarthy said another challenge for the district is the ability to serve the diverse needs of student populations.
“I believe we do an excellent job serving the educational needs of the
average student,” she said. “However, we struggle to meet the full needs
of our educationally challenged and gifted students.”
According to
McCarthy, voters should select the three individuals they think will
make the best decisions for all children in the district.
“I am
dedicated to making sound leadership decisions that balance the need to
be fiscally responsible with the need to provide quality education for
all students,” she said.
