Maria Sycz
Sycz, 44, has served on the school board for nine years. She is president of the Board of Education, has served on multiple district committees and is a stay-at-home mother.
She said of all the challenges the district faces, the biggest is educating children to be lifelong learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete and be successful in society.
“In order to accomplish this, it will take financial stability, academic excellence and facilities to provide the best for the children of our community,” she said.
The district is on the up after voters “generously passed an operating levy” but more needs to be done, she said.
“The last part of the equation is our facilities,” Sycz said. “We are out of space to house the growing population of our student body as our enrollment increases each year.”
She said she will remain committed to moving the district forward.
“I have dedicated time and energy into our schools so that all children can succeed,” Sycz said. “I am a firm believer in being involved in this community and have done so through numerous organizations and associations.”
