Marian Carter
Carter, 66, a retired, life-long
resident of Elyria, is a member of the Elyria PTA, Midview Woman's Club,
VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Midview Compass Committee and the Midview Band
Boosters.
Carter is the mother of two adult children who are Midview graduates.
Carter said if elected, she will “create a district that moves ahead of
the rest” by offering programs designed to unify and serve the
community and will give teachers access to the best tools and technology
to move students beyond the basics.
“I will market the district so
that people seek out homes in the Midview area because of its
educational reputation for excellence,” she added.
Carter, a senior
citizen, plans to encourage the schools to reach out to the community
more by creating school programs geared toward older district residents,
including a senior exercise program and season passes to arts programs.
She will survey the community for feedback on programs they would like
offered to them and seek funding for them.
Cater also plans to stop declining enrollment by increasing foreign language and extra and co-curricular programs for students.
Carter wants to fund these programs by seeking competitive grants and sponsorship, relieving taxpayer's burden.
