If elected, Gilson said among the areas he would like to address are maintaining and creating “the best programming to serve the special needs of the children of Geauga County,” funding and hiring “the most qualified and best candidates who will meet the special needs of the students … (and who) always have the children’s interests as the top priority.”
Gilson, who has served with the Geauga ESC Board for two decades, has extensive experience in the educational field.
His 50 years in public education include positions as teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent as well as working as chief negotiator with the Mentor, West Geauga, Wickliffe and Newbury districts. He also was a 12-year member of the public defender’s commission.
