Powers, 55, has served on the Painesville School Board since 2010.
He cites improving school scores and the district’s letter grade as top priority, followed by improved graduation rate and sound fiscal management.
“I believe that the board has started a process to improve the Painesville City Local Schools. We have a new Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and several new Principals,” he wrote in his questionnaire. “I would like to continue to work with the Board and the Superintendent in making positive changes that improve the School District.”
Powers is a Deputy Sheriff for the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and has lived in Painesville for 28 years.
