Joni Poli
Poli, 47, said as a 1984 graduate of Amherst Marion L. Steele, she has
always felt strongly about giving back and being part of the school
district that she attended. Poli said she volunteered much of her time
while her son — who graduated in 2010 — was an Amherst student, by
participating in fundraisers, working with the Prom to Dawn committee
and helping to run the spirit store, Comet Corner.
Poli said being a “fresh face” who thinks “outside the box” with “new ideas” makes her a strong candidate.
She added she plans to continue and expand a strong relationship and
open dialogue between the school board and the community and hopes to
find funds to educate parents and students on anti-bullying. In
addition, Poli said she would like to help find alternative funding for
extracurricular activities.
Poli adds that her real estate tax experience will be beneficial to anyone who may have questions in that aspect.
“As a 2013 graduate of Leadership Lorain County, it seems like the
perfect time to give what I have to offer to the community through the
Amherst School Board.”
