Valerie Neidert for Amherst Village School Board

Valerie Neidert
Neidert, 49, has lived in Lorain for 11 years. She and her husband have two children.
If re-elected, Neidert plans to focus on creating a better environment for students by improving buildings and extracurricular activities. Recently, the district has completed some facility projects by partnering with other community organizations, Neidert said.
Along with other board members, she said she will work hard to improve education and monitor district finances closely, including state funding.
“We must be good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” Neidert said.
With all the new state standards being implemented, her goal is to help the district to continue being an “excellent school district,” she said.
Since becoming a school board member, Neidert says she has “worked hard to continue improving education while being fiscally responsible to taxpayers.” She added she is part of a board that has “made significant budget reductions to make up for state cuts to help balance the district’s budget.”
