Matthew G. Schulz for Kirtland City Council

Matthew G. Schulz
Schulz moved to Kirtland more than a decade ago and joined council in 2009.
He served as deacon and deacon treasurer at Kirtland Christian Fellowship for six years, and is an adjunct professor at Lakeland Community College, teaching engineering technology. His community involvement also includes Kirtland Boosters, PTA, Cub Scouts, and he is a former Kirtland Recreation baseball coach.
Schulz aims to pursue economic development in the Historic Town District — including for senior housing — and funding for studies on adding a mid-block crosswalk near the high school football stadium and to do a comprehensive plan for the city’s 28 acres on Route 6.
“With flat revenues, state funding cuts to our local government fund and ever-increasing inflationary costs on the city, my expertise in the field of roadway engineering and plan development is an invaluable asset to the city,” he said. “I will continue to bring the state of Ohio’s best-management practices, all while continually identifying grant funding sources for council and the administration to consider.”
