Robert Kamnikar
Kamnikar, 48, is a married father of three children.
He said if elected, he plans to focus his time on communications between
teachers, administration, coaches, parents and students.
“We need to explain reasons why we (Amherst Schools) are doing what
we’re doing, not only the Board of Education meetings, but find a way to
be proactive in getting the word out into the community so everyone is
informed,” he said.
Kamnikar also plans to address drugs in schools by giving students
options and support to help them, rather than expelling them. This
allows them to keep up with their classes rather than having to start
over, he said.
Pay freezes and health care are tough topics that he says he plans to
address. He said he’s willing to research and visit opportunities to get
teachers back on a pay raise to offset health cost increases.
Kamnikar believes voters should elect him because he “will continue to
be involved and visible within the community.” He says he will “place
kids first in all of my decisions.”
