Joe Miller
Miller has lived in Amherst for more than 25 years. He and his wife, Kelly, have two children.
If re-elected, Miller plans to address and support the long-term planning of fiscally responsible efforts of water management in the city, establishing a city-wide alert and notification system and work to update the city’s antiquated ordinances. He believes many of the codified ordinances need to be updated to better serve residents and businesses.
Miller said he has noticed a “lack of synergy” between the city, police and schools when it comes to information dissemination of emergency information. He feels an alert system tiered and delivered in multiple modes of medium can be done in a cost effective manner, and within the current budget.
Miller said voters should re-elect him because of his ability to work with fellow council members, the mayor’s office and city’s departments to find working solutions to problems.
“I have been a quick study of the city’s finances and ordinances, experienced with researching issues and coming prepared to thoughtfully consider our residents and city’s problems while working with any city official.”
