Katriona Torok, running for Kirtland School Board

Torok has lived in Kirtland for nine years and has served on the board since 2010.
Professional development for staff and resulting student improvement are listed as Torok’s first priority if elected.
“... Providing professional development to our teaching staff, for the purpose of not only best preparing our students to succeed academically through the implementation of the new Common Core State Standards, but further equip our staff to flourish personally is my primary goal,” she wrote in her questionnaire.
Financial oversight and communication with the community are listed as her next priorities.
“I plan on continuing to work with our finance committee to analyze our allocation of tax dollars. With the rebirth of the Board finance committee, the current board has committed itself to maintaining the achieved balanced budget and intends to hold the district accountable to operate within the financial tax dollar parameters set by the generosity of our community,” she wrote.
