John Popelka for Willoughby Council Ward 2
An eight-year resident of Willoughby, Popelka says if elected he’ll work to improve the city’s sewer infrastructure, the airport ownership transition and the city’s fiscal responsibility.“My main concern is the current sewer infrastructure and the Ward Creek watershed is not accurate to handle the recent growth in population in North Willoughby,” he said in his questionnaire. “I will push for improvements to the current system to that when it rains the residents do not have to worry about property damage.”
In terms of fiscal responsibility, Popelka said he’s looking to improve the efficiency of delivering services, cutting taxes when possible, and saving surplus monies in the bank.
“I am an effective team leader, a collaborative team member, and a successful team builder with many years of public service on boards, commissions and in community groups,” he said. “I want Willoughby to maintain its historic position as a safe, economical community to raise and educate a family.”
