Eva — the city’s 20th mayor — moved to the city in 1969 and was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Board in 2003. The following year he joined council.
Other community involvement includes serving as past-president of the McMinn Baseball League.
His goals include ensuring that the police and fire departments have proper equipment and training; working with the city engineer and service department on improving storm water flow throughout the city and applying for state grants to that end; and cooperating with council and city departments to meet residents’ needs quickly.
“I believe voters should elect me because of my proven leadership and management skills,” he said. “I am confident my administration and City Council will continue to work closely together to provide effective city government for all residents.
Eva noted that he has experience in financial analysis, budgeting, project management and process improvement.
“With the support and endorsements from five out of seven City Council members and the former mayor, we will continue to operate efficiently and effectively in a fiscally responsible manner,” he said.
Eva has two grown children.
