Garry L. Gibbs
Third ward incumbent Gibbs has been a
City Council member since 1993. Gibbs is currently a member of
council's strategic planning — since 1993 — and finance committees.
Gibbs is a lifelong resident of Elyria who serves as vice president of incentive services for the GRA Group Inc. in Avon, Ohio.
He has served on the Public Safety and Environment Committees (1993-95,
2009-2011), Community Development Committee (1995-2007, 2009-2011),
Rules Committee (1995-97), Finance Committee (1997-2000, 2008-present)
and the Internet Technology Subcommittee (2011).
He and his wife, Barb, are parents of two adult children.
The 55-year-old is an Elyria High School graduate who has attended the Culver Military Academy and the University of Toledo.
Gibbs said if re-elected, he will continue to support and implement
traffic flow and pedestrian safety, continue to be a strong proponent of
Emergency Medical Services through LifeCare and support empowerment of
neighborhood block watch groups and block captains to reduce crime and
graffiti.
As a resident and the representative of the 3rd Ward,
Gibbs said he has the “experience, skills and availability to guide
Elyria and the knowledge of the city and its process.” He said he will
continue to be the community's voice on council, keep residents informed
and apply common sense to council decision-making.
